Event Details:

To quote my buddy Ansel Adams, “The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it.” Meaning… you must know how to compose an image before you take the leap into controlling the image!

Whether you want to learn how to take better images of your children or to see things from a new perspective, Through the Rose-Colored Lens will show you how to learn from the classical masters of fine art portraiture and adapt them to your own. We will learn the Elements of Art and Principles of Design and how they apply to our photography. We will also really get into the most important part of photography... light and how it affects every tiny little thing that graces our camera lenses.

This workshop is intended for budding photographers who want to learn how to build or strengthen the Fine Art side of their work.

This is not a technical workshop as point-and-shoots and digital SLRs both are welcome. However, you should have a well-charged and quality digital camera. Post-processing is not heavily addressed in this workshop, but questions can be answered. (Post-processing is addressed more in depth in a more advanced workshop.)

What to Expect…

-          Learning, teaching, and practicing

-          Mini-Crash Course in Famous Artists and Masterpieces

-          Discovering the Simple Complexity of Natural Lighting

-          Deliciously Catered Lunch by Chef by Design

-          Practice Models

-          Location Shooting

What to Bring…

-          Digital Camera (and extra batteries just in case)

-          Notepad and a pen

-          Open minds

-          Personal Stories

** Upon registering, you will receive an email from me with a confirmation as well as an invitation to join the private Facebook group, "Through the Rose-Colored Lens," where you will meet everyone else who is attending, get to know them, and ask questions. It's going to be great!

The official Day-Of Schedule and final details will be sent one week BEFORE the workshop. So grab that camera, start fiddling, and get excited! You WILL be on your way to composing photos like a rockstar in June. :)

** For lunch, if you have any food allergies, PLEASE email me after you register so I can make sure you get some yummy food. (I am gluten-intolerant, so there will be gluten-free options.)

Parking Info: You will want to park in MacArthur Center's parking garage. If you do valet, it is only $3.00 for the day if you park BEFORE 10am. If you park after 10am, it is $5.00 for all-day valet. Other rates apply if you choose not to use valet parking. The other closest garage is Freemason Garage. :)

All workshop seats are nonrefundable, but are transferable to another person if the need arises.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me either before or after registering: bitofivoryphotography@gmail.com

Can't wait!
Chelsea :)
